Efficacy of pelvic floor exercise for post-prostatectomy urinary incontinence
As post-prostatectomy urinary incontinence has a major impact on the quality of
life of patients who had undergone radical prostatectomy, this study examined the
effect of pelvic floor muscle exercise.
Search in PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases resulted in finding
twenty-one studies that met criteria for quantitative synthesis. A positive effect of
pelvic floor muscle exercise on the recovery of post-prostatectomy urinary
incontinence was observed. However, study authors concluded that more research
is needed to confirm the real efficacy of pelvic floor muscle exercise.
